Your baby shower is usually one of the events you look forward to most (apart from the birth of your baby) when you find out that you are pregnant. It’s such a special day you get to spend with family and friends, opening presents and admiring the most adorable little baby clothes and toys they have gifted you.
However, the last three months has been anything but normal – with social distancing being implemented and social gatherings being prohibited – it just isn’t possible to have a traditional baby shower.
This didn’t stop Lauren Petersen’s friends and family from giving her the special baby shower she so looked forward to. According to reports from IOL, Lauren, who is 35 weeks pregnant, thought she would have to wave goodbye to this special tradition.
But what she didn’t know was that her friends and family had a secret up their sleeves.
Lauren and her husband heard cars hooting outside their Atlantis home in Cape Town on 30 May. They went outside to see what was going on. Lauren was left speechless when she found a baby mat laid out on the floor with a box, chair and balloons saying ‘Baby Shower’.
A string of cars was parked in the street in front of her home. “I was so taken away by this, it was such a beautiful, amazing and loving gesture from my family and friends. I could not control my emotions, tears were rolling down my cheeks,” the expectant mom told IOL.
