While many of us can’t go to the beach to splash in the waves right now, there’s no reason you can’t have fun in the sun and water at one of these popular waterparks, now officially reopened to the public. Trust us, you’ll all have a ball.
Happy Island Waterworld
One of South Africa’s most popular waterparks, Happy Island Water World guarantees an adrenaline-pumping day of water fun for the whole family. For starters, there’s not one, but two enormous wave pools to experience with your kids – a treat for anyone who hasn’t been to the beach in a while.
One of the top water thrills for adults and the big kids is the gravity pool, which will literally make your stomach turn as you’re sucked into an inclined loop at a speed of 60km|h before it spits you out at the tail end of a shallow pool. But there’s so much more!

There are also a number of spiral slides, high-speed slides, a python slide, rainbow slides and the cutest pirate boat slide for toddlers.
If you prefer something a bit more relaxing and less exhilarating, you’ll love floating on a tube on the Lazy River or having the tension in your body released in one of the Massage Pools.
Of course, the little ones will just as happily splash around in the spray garden among the giant plastic animals sprouting jets of water.
Currently, you can bring a picnic basket into the park at a nominal charge, but if you get hungry and thirsty, there’s a fast food court as well as several independent food and beverage vendors inside the park.
Showers and lockers are also available.
