Did you know that 1 in 29 South African women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime?
This is a frightening statistic, but there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of getting breast cancer by making certain healthy lifestyle changes, like exercising.
Lifestyle factors can lower your risk of breast cancer
A 2018 global study of 19 000 respondents from various countries showed that there is low awareness among women that some lifestyle factors could prevent breast cancer.
For example, 64% of women were not aware that regular exercise – including walking – could help to lower their risk of developing breast cancer.
