Floating raindrop mobile

Posted on June 23rd, 2015

Expecting? On a tight budget? Make your own cute floating raindrop mobile for your baby’s nursery. Here’s how.

Add a touch of glam and fun to your baby’s nursery, with this simple mobile that is sure to enthral your little one.

Difficulty level: 2
Time: About 1hr

You will need:

  • An embroidery ring
  • Invisible thread
  • Felt
  • Felt balls
  • Needle

Step 1:

Cut your felt into raindrop shapes. Five to six should be enough.

Step 2:

Start threading the felt balls onto the invisible string. Your string lengths can all be different and the spaces between your felt balls can vary for a more natural overall effect.
Remember to go around each felt ball with the string once or twice to help keep them in place.

Step 3:

Thread the felt cut-outs onto invisible thread so that the shape is at the very bottom of the string.

Step 4:

Tie each piece of invisible string to the embroidery ring, alternating one length of felt balls with a felt cut-out.

Step 5:

Tie four lengths of invisible thread on opposite ends of the embroidery ring and measure until the ring sits evenly. The length of the string will depend on how low or high you would like the mobile to hang. Tie the lengths together and hang above your little one’s cot.
