You don’t have to fork out hundreds of rands for iced tea at the shops. Make your own healthy iced tea at home with these easy recipes.

Five Roses green iced tea with ginger, mint and honey

Preparation: 30 minutes
Refrigeration: 2 hours


  • 6 Five Roses Green Tea tea bags
  • 5 litres boiling water
  • 100g fresh ginger, unpeeled and sliced
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 50 – 80ml honey
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Lots of ice


  • Bring the water and ginger to the boil in a large saucepan over high heat.
  • As soon as it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the tea bags and mint.
  • Cover and let the tea steep for 15 minutes.
  • Strain the tea into a jug.
  • Stir in the honey and lemon juice and let the tea cool before refrigerating.
  • Serve over lots of ice and garnish with more mint leaves.

Green iced tea

Freshpak berry, honey, lime and vanilla iced tea

Preparation: 30 minutes
Refrigeration: 2 hours


  • 5 Freshpak Rooibos tea bags
  • 1 litre boiling water
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice and lime cordial
  • 1/4 cup berries (cherries, strawberries or mixed berries)
  • 1-2 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 80-100ml honey
  • Ice (as needed)


  • Place the tea bags into a jug, add boiling water and allow to steep for 5 minutes (or longer if you prefer a stronger iced tea).
  • Remove the tea bags, add lime juice, honey and vanilla essence and stir.
  • Let the tea cool to room temperature and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Serve with lots of ice and garnish with mint and berries.
