Deputy Minister for Social Development Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu handed over six new Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers in a virtual event. ECD is unarguably the most essential part of a human being’s development.
According to the Real Reform for Early Childhood Development (ECD) campaign, about 3.2 million South African children are not attending ECD centers.

“Research conducted on resilience has indicated that early childhood years represents very critical years in which children need to have access to good quality care and opportunities for key areas such as learning, adequate nutrition, community support, facilitation of positive development in cognitive and social skills, as well as self-regulation.” This is according to a media statement issued by the City of Johannesburg.
This is why the Department of Social Development is investing in ECD centres. This is one of the best ways to invest in children.
The department is also committing itself to ensure that service providers are compliant. They are offering the necessary training that will ensure the highest level of ECD compliance.
