Party - How to make vintage popcorn holders and hanging doily mobiles

A beautiful vintage party is the perfect theme to celebrate your little girl’s first birthday party. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on the decorations – you can make most of them yourself, from our downloadable templates. All you need is a little time to spare.

How to make the popcorn cones:

You’ll need:
• 1 doily
• Fabric or wrapping paper
• Double-sided tape
• Skewers

To make:
1. Cut the fabric disc out and use the double-sided tape to attach the fabric to the centre of the doily.
2. Fold the doily in half and cut down the middle so that you get two equal halves.
3. Stick the double-sided tape down the one side of the doily; peel it and roll it into a cone onto itself.
4. Place the double-sided tape round the top of the skewer.
5. Pull the skewer through the cone until it sticks out the bottom and the double-sided tape hooks in the bottom of the cone.

Whimsical Hanging Doily Mobiles

You’ll need:
• 4 doilies
• Fabric or wrapping paper
• Double-sided tape
• Cotton

To make:
1. Cut the fabric discs to the size of the inside of the doily.
2. Use double-sided tape to attach the fabric to the inside.
3. Then apply more double-sided tape to the back of the doily.
4. Fold the doily in half so that you have two halves.
5. Peel the one side of the tape and stick the doilies back to back four times, creating a circle.
6. Before sticking the last two together, lace the cotton through the middle so that it comes out at the top.
