Crying and illness night guide: Colic and cramps

Tips for colic and cramps
  • Relax your baby by sitting her on your lap, supporting her jawline between thumb and index finger, and stretching her left arm upwards while patting her back. If your baby vomits forcefully or passes a looser-than-normal stool more than three times and self-help cures are not giving relief, go to the 24-hour clinic.
  • Massage your baby's tummy in a clockwise direction with baby oil.
  • Offer 25ml weak rooibos tea.
  • Dissolve five mag phos tablets in 10ml warm water and give your baby 1ml every 10 minutes until she settles.
  • Let your baby lie with her tummy over a covered hot-water bottle.
  • Do give your baby a homeopathic remedy for colic or digestive symptoms.
