First year milestones: 12 months

Important milestones your baby will reach by 12 months.

  • Object permanence is far more developed and Baby expects to find things in known places.
  • She chatters a lot and says more intelligible words.
  • Her clarity of vision is as good as that of an adult, although maturing of vision continues until six or seven years of age.
  • Baby will be able to pull herself into a firm stand and may stand unsupported for brief moments. If she takes her first tentative steps, she’ll walk with her feet widely splayed, but quite well on even ground.
  • She likes to scribble, wants to turn the pages of a book and may “dance” to music.
