First year milestones: 6 months

Important milestones your baby will reach by 6 months.

  • Baby should be able to hold her head in a stable position while being pulled into a sitting position.
  • She passes objects from one hand to the other by now, understands “no” and “bye-bye”, laughs and squeals loudly in delight and can make bi-syllabic sounds like “agoo” and “ada”.
  • Babies are able to judge distance quite accurately at six months and will look for an object if it’s dropped.
  • There’s a strong response to sounds, and Baby’s ability to distinguish the source of sounds is developing.
  • She should be able to roll over and back again, push up onto all fours, and rock herself.
  • A few babies may crawl, or at least attempt to crawl.
