Your guide to common paediatric skin conditions and how to remedy them.
Milia presents as pimples on a baby's face. It usually disappears after three months and seems to occur because of blocked pores as the sweat glands and skin mature.
Treating milia:
- Do not squeeze the pimple-like eruptions.
- Simply rinse the area with rooibos tea and apply a very light layer of Calendula cream once a day.
- Give your baby the tissue salt Nat phos and the homeopathic remedy Calendula tablets, and reduce dairy, grain and acid-forming foods (like coffee, pickles and all animal products) in a breastfeeding mom’s diet.
- If your baby is on formula and this eruption persists, you would be well advised to change to an allergy formula milk.
